Short Film Hackathon with The Story Mill | 2-Day Event
about this event
Calling all amateur filmmakers! Join experts from The Story Mill for a two-day Hackathon and create your own short film on your smartphone. Over a weekend, participants will work in small teams of 3-4 people to script, storyboard, film, and edit a short film using their smart phones. Working in small teams with mentors from The Story Mill, you'll script, shoot and edit your own short film in just 48 hours.
No filmmaking experience required. Over the weekend you'll work in teams of 3-4, with a mentor guiding your group through every stage of the process:
Day 1 – Saturday 26 September, 10am to 4pm
• Plan your story, write your script and draw up a storyboard
• Assign crew roles and get across the basics of filming, sound and lighting
• Shoot your film on your smartphone
Day 2 – Sunday 27 September, 10am to 4pm
• Edit your film with your mentors
• Add colour grading and music
• Watch your finished films back with the group!
Anyone who is considering submitting an entry to our Cut Short Film Festival can use this opportunity to develop their skills to polish off their entries.
